Just another Day and just another Outfit

Hi everyone :)

I am kind of loosing track of time here. I have no clue what day it is today which is why I have no clue what the theme for today is.

Oh hang on, it's Wednesday right? I could be completely wrong here and it could be Thursday but I'm just gonna write about fashion anyway :)

The other day I read a blog post by Kandee Johnson about the way we dress and I got inspired by it.
We, each and every one of us, have a different style. You can not tell me that there are two people with the same style as there are no two people in this world who even look the same. Yes we might have the same fashion idols but still everyone makes something different with it and takes something different away from it.
Do we each have our own individual style and that is a good thing. No one should be there to tell us that what we dress as is not appropriate, 'as you are classy and covering up what should be kept private' just like Kandee says in the post on her blog.

So why do we feel intimidated, to a point where we don't wear stuff anymore, by people who say they don't like what we are wearing?
Why is it that we feel like everyone is staring at us whenever we try something new.
And why do we feel the need to defend ourselves for the clothes we have?
I personally have gotten to a point where I can say: I am comfortable with myself and what I wear and I honestly don't give a f*** about people who don't like the way I dress.
I mean that should be their problem we can not let our style be determined by other people.
The stuff we wear represents us after all. Our style is a way of expressing ourselves. There is a reason why people say that clothes make people.

I think a outfit says a lot about someone personality even if people might find that a bit harsh. Because I have been told before that they feel like I was judging them on the basis of what they were wearing.
NOT WHAT I WAS TRYING TO SAY!!
I don't judge anyone. Not on what they are wearing and not on their personality. If I don't like someones personality I will just not spend time with them and tell them very nicely that they are just not my kind of person. And that is okay! We are not expected to get along with everyone.

But back to clothes:
I don't think I am ever in a position to tell someone that the way they dress is not appropriate (as long as their boobs are not hanging out that is).
A persons style is just as much free as their opinion is. So it is okay to say: I don't like what you wear in a sense that I would never wear it myself. But you can not tell them it is not okay to wear it just because you don't like it.
I mean how boring would it be if everyone just wore the same thing. That would be like everyone looking the same.

I don't even think I have a particular style at least not unless wearing whatever you feel like is suddenly considered a style :D
Most days I just wear a pair of Vans, with jeans that I roll up to my ankles, mostly combined with a Johnny Cupcakes t-shirt and a leather jacket. If it's cold I'll wear a scarf with it.

So just wear what you like and tell people who don't like it kindly to f*** off.
Don't feel like you have to defend what you are wearing and people who criticize your style should definitely worry about their own life, because why would you spend time on telling someone you don't like what they do when you could use that time to tell someone else how great they are?
Be confident because there will always be people who don't like what you do, nothing you can do about it. It is how you react to it that counts. And someone criticizing what you wear should not cause you to question yourself! Stand up for yourself and what you like, which includes you choice of clothing.

Just be nice to people and avoid the ones you don't get along with. Hate has never gotten anyone anywhere, might as well save the time.

And just at the end I would like all of you to read the blog post that inspired me to write this: So you're gonna say something about how I dress?
It is really good and so is the rest of her blog :)
Blog recommendation everyone :D
Also while you're at it: Go check out her YouTube channel :)

Enjoy your night and maybe try to wear the outfit you were never sure about tomorrow!

One of Those People

Hi everyone :)

I don't know if this just happens to me or what it even is, that makes these certain people in my life a little bit more special than others, because some of them just are.
I have recently came to realise that I have 2 people in my life that instantly cheer me up when I see them or even just hear from them. There is no way I can be in a bad mood around them. I don't know why that is but it is great.

One of them is my best friend. You have read about him many times before on here and he still doesn't want me to feature him with a picture but I promise one day I'll get him to agree :)
He is able to make me smile with a text that says: Hi. It's ridiculous almost but true. There is not much he has to do and I will be in a good mood. He jut has that affect on me and it makes spending time with him so much easier, because even if we talk about something completely serious I know I will not go home feeling sad.
But with him I'm not really surprised that this happens, I mean we have know each other most of our lives after all.

The person that surprised me however was a friend from uni. She is such a positive person I honestly have no idea how she does it. She seems to understand me in a way that I can not begin to describe. I sometimes feel like she knows me better than I do although we haven't even known each other for more than 6 months (correct me if I'm wrong please).
Her being around me brings out a very playful side of me and I sometimes think that people surrounding us think we are crazy, but that is the good thing about her: She doesn't care what others think of us and when I'm with her I don't either.
We act childish and draw hearts on our faces to goto movie premieres. That's just how we are and we are not ashamed of it.
Even if I get up super early to go see her, as soon as I am with her all of the -grumpy-morning-me is gone. I can not be sad around her it's just not possible.
And I believe that I have some good influence on her too. I'm starting to crack the little shell she has been living in and showing her how life looks from my perspective.
We can learn from each other.
She is that one person that makes me happy and challenges me to be more to evolve. In a way that I didn't think was possible.
We giggle like schoolgirls and joke like idiots and yet I wouldn't want to change a thing.
She just is one of those people that is a little more special than the rest of my friends.

Just yesterday I found another 'one of those people'.
Do you know that feeling of just instantly feeling save around someone even if you don't really know them yet?
I didn't realise I felt that way about this person until now.
He is one of my friends in New Zealand, a very special friend that I have been missing a lot. He is very honest and wise without even realising that he is. He is the person that will tell you how special you are and how much you mean to them without knowing how much you needed to hear that in that exact moment.
Recently a lot of my friend from New Zealand have asked if they should come pick me up from the airport. And don't get me wrong I love them all to bits but I just wasn't sure. And yet when he asked I instantly knew that this was the reason why I hadn't wanted the others to come pick me up. Knowing he would be at the airport to come pick me up calmed me down. It took a lot of my nervousness away and I was sure that I had made the right decision. And adding the fact that he was just as excited as I was made it even better :)
That is when I started to think back at the moment we had met and it became clear to me that we didn't actually know that much about each other and yet I felt like I had known him my whole life.
When we met I felt the connection and I felt save and like I had just come home to an old friend.
He is 'one of those people' that you feel comfortable with a second after you have met them.

I don't have many of 'those people' but the ones I have are even more special now that I have realised this.
They make my life a lot easier and I truly hope you have one of 'those people' as well. Maybe another one of 'those people'? I would love to know.
How does this certain person make you feel? Save? Happy? Special?

Words of Wisdom

Hi everyone :)

I got this calendar with a saying for each day of the year for my birthday last year. And so far I have been loving it because some of those sayings are really inspirational.
And so was today's :
A stranger is a friend that you haven't met yet.
(Irish saying)

I instantly thought about first impressions.
We spend so much time judging other people that we don't even have time for what this saying implies.
I mean it is a beautiful idea but in all reality this would not happen. Lets be honest: How many times have you met someone for the first time and after 45 seconds you knew that you wouldn't want to get to know them any further.

And it is not surprising that if you do get to know them better it might turn out that you have been completely wrong about this person. Don't tell me this has never happened to you because it sure has happened to me several times.

I might have said this before but I actually do believe that a person gets more attractive the better you know them. Which can only mean one thing: A persons beauty does have to do a lot with their character. At least for me.

So a stranger is a friend that we haven't met yet? We should be a lot nicer to strangers then. Obviously that will not work with every stranger but it is a nice thing to do, isn't it?
For me this definitely is something that I will take into consideration next time I meet someone because I am at university where you basically meet new people every day.
And it would be a lot easier to just talk to someone you don't know yet if you don't judge them at the same time. Now I always try to do this which has actually lead to me getting to know a truly stunning friend. She is not someone I would usually hang out with but I didn't judge her when we first met and now she has become a really close friend that I treasure.
For me she was this stranger that turned out as a friend.
You can only meet those people if you give them a chance though. No prejudices or judgment.
You can't allow yourself these things if you want to turn a stranger into a friend.
There just is no room for prejudices.

Meeting someone for the first time it is hard not to jump to conclusions about them I had to learn the hard way.
When I first moved into my flat I thought all of the boys were really nice, (I tend to think the best of people) turns out one of them was a complete arse.
So yes first impressions can be wrong in a good way or in bad way.
Trusting your intuition with someone is probably the best thing to do when you first meet them.
Living  in a flat with 3 other people is an environment where there is constantly is change. Since I live here I have had 3 people moving out. We had do find someone new and I had to trust my gut feeling when choosing a new flat mate.
I couldn't allow myself to judge them instead I went with what my intuition told me. If I felt comfortable with someone they would move in even if I didn't like the way they dressed or how they looked or laughed.

All of them were friends I just hadn't met yet.
And I'm glad that I did meet them and got the chance to get to know them.
The flat mate I spend most of my time with is probably the person I expected it the least from. I can't tell you what it was about him that I didn't like in the beginning because I just love him now but there was something. My instincts told me we would get along fine but I there was something about him I didn't like. I had judged him.
I'm very happy that I got over that because he is amazing. We laugh about the most ridiculous things and sometimes in the most inappropriate moments but I wouldn't wanna have it any other way.

So give this stranger that come along a chance and you might have find him to be your best friend a year from now.

Because a stranger really just is a friend that we haven't met yet.

Spreading love

Hello everyone :)

I know I have done something a bit similar to this post before but I don't think it can be said enough times.
Altruism is something that we seem to forget about most of the time. I mean it is not hard to lend an elder a hand from time to time but we just don't do it. Or by the time we can bring ourselves to help out the opportunity has passed.
Why is that? It is something that should come natural to us and yet it doesn't.
And I'm no better then the people I'm complaining about here. However I do get better at it at least I'd like to think I do.
The other day I was about to walk across the street to get to the bus stop, when a women (around 80 ish) tugged at my sleeve and asked me if I could maybe help her. I linked her arm with mine and lead her across the street to the bus stop and later on helped her get into the bus. We talked about her husband who had died a couple of years ago and how much he loved teaching, till I got of the bus. I could see how happy she was that I took the time to talk to her and I was glad I did.
So why don't we do that more often? Why don't I do that more often?
It is so rewarding to think about others and help them out and it takes such little time.

Something I have gotten used to doing by now is getting up in the bus for old people. It took me a while but after doing it for a couple of times it become natural.
And the smiles you get from those people are so thankful and most of the time also surprised.
I know when I was little my parents thought me that it is polite to leave your seat to someone who is older then you if there are no other free ones.

Now I get that sometimes you have to think twice before you do it, because some people get offended. I had this women once who could barely stand but yet she thought it necessary to point out to me that she didn't need that seat cause she was still young. The grandma sitting next time me rolled her eyes at her and said: Just take it. I was glad that I had to get of at the next stop because I just couldn't stop laughing. That grandma was so cool.

And yes although you might find yourself in situations like this it's always nice to at least try.
Maybe the person who you offered your seat to might not think so but someone on that bus will! And maybe they get inspired by your action and another old person will be grateful for what you tried to do.
See that's the thing with altruism: It's contagious.
Whenever I get up on the bus for someone, there always is another person who get's up for the next grandma or grandpa that get's on the bus.
It's those simple acts of kindness that will make it easier to help in other situations where it will take a lot more courage to get up.

So lets all try to be inspirational for a while.
And watch the clip to see how far others go and maybe get inspired by them :)

Have a good week.
And let me know if you helped anyone this week. I would love to know. Maybe we can all be a bit nicer to others together :)

Creative Sundays

Hello everyone :)

Last day of the weekend... at least for those of you who either go to work or still have school... Wait is there still people who are not on their summer holidays yet? I have no idea it's been to long since I left school I guess.
Ok that was a lie it has only been 2 years but I have already forgotten during what times of the year we used to have holidays. Is that something I should be worried about? I hope not :)

So here comes the creative stuff that either originated in my brain or my mind got attracted to. Mhm that sounded a lot less sexual in my head. Never mind, lets just get started :)

If you get stuck in one place just open a new door and see what’s behind it … It can only get better

This a picture I snapped of a door I quite liked and just edited a bit. Well people seemed to like it so I thought I might as well share it with you guys and see what you think :) I'd like to know what you think and maybe I will make more in the future?

And another truly inspiring clip that I found this week has to be shared :)

And again we learn: It is never to late to start doing what you love and there truly is nothing that can hold you back.

On that note: Have a lovely week everyone and I shall see all of you tomorrow. Maybe with a little announcement... but I might have to think about that for a little longer. You'll just have to wait and see!

Creative Sundays

Hi guys!

So I have been studying for my exams a lot lately but you all know that.
Studying however can become quite boring from time to time so I spend o lot of time on the internet for procrastination :)

And over the last couple of weeks I have found quite a few very creative things that I would like to share today.

It's from a YouTube channel called POTATOwillEATyou

I know the cup song is really old but I just really liked this version and came across it whilst going through videos clips from Pitch Perfect

Here is a really creative TEDx Talk and if you don't know what Ted is you should google it cause it is a great thing.

And finally a little twist on Disney Songs :) I thought it was incredibly creative and very well made!

I don't even know what to name this Post

Hello you guys :)

I just couldn't come up with a name for this post cause everything I tried just didn't seem right.

Today I'm writing about something that has been on my mind for quite some time but I didn't really think it was worth sharing till I came across a video the other day that was just plain painful to watch. I'll get to why that was later on.
The topic of that video that has gone viral quite some time ago is bullying.
Now having been bullied myself I think that it is something that not enough people are aware of. Or at least not enough people are willing to do something against it.
It can ruin so much more then just someones self esteem!
I remember the feeling like it was yesterday even if I can't remember every detail of what exactly happened.
That time is like a big blur in my mind probably because I'm suppressing the memories. I mean why wouldn't I do that to protect myself? I remember enough to know that those were really difficult times in my life.

The girl who started it had been a good friend of mine before she decided I would make a good victim. I had never approved of her talking crap about others so she cut me out next.

She told nasty things about me and a lot of private things I didn't want anyone to know. For example that my dad wasn't my biological father and things about my relationship with one of my ex-boyfriends.

She made it very clear that whoever spend time with me was going to be next, so no one did spend time with me.

I wasn't invited to any parties ( I was 16) or birthdays because everyone was scared of that one girl.
Going to school soon became a torture for me. I have always been someone who needed contact to other people otherwise I would just slowly die like a plant without water. And she didn't allow me to get what I so desperately needed: friends.

I don't know if it was luck or if she just got bored of excluding me and decided that I wasn't worth the attention it took to bully me.

So after the long summer break it just stopped. She didn't do anything but there still was a lack of friendships since no one really knew what would happen if they started talking to me. I slowly started getting back on my feet trying not to get in her way and pretty much kept my mouth shut about everything. I didn't want to give her any reason to start all over again.
At the end of 11 grade I had some friends again but I didn't trust any of them.
Up till now it is hard for me to truly trust someone since I can't get myself to believe that they won't betray me.
It took my best friend quite some time till I opened up to him about this stuff and really told him about it. And I have to say he is the one person I can rely on and I know he would never use any of my weaknesses against me.

So getting bullied for speaking my mind has resulted in me loosing faith in trust aside from the fact that it took me 4 years to find the courage to say: I'm okay the way I am and no one can tell me otherwise. And I'm sure I wouldn't be where I am today if I hadn't left home and gone to New Zealand for a year. No one knew who I was there and therefore didn't judge me for it either. I learned that being yourself is the only way to be at all. Being anything other then yourself will always be apparent and people won't feel completely comfortable around you since you don't even feel comfortable around yourself.

Getting bullied can destroy so much in a person and I was already 16 when it started I can't imagine what would have happened to me if I would have been younger. I mean how is a 10 year old supposed to know what the hell is going on? They haven't even had the chance to try out who they are and already get crushed.

And people get bullied for a lot less then speaking their mind nowadays.
Kids get bullied for not wearing brand-name clothes or not having a cell phone at the age of 8.
One of the sweet little grand children of my boss got bullied in kindergarden by this girl who had a new outfit on everyday. In kindergarden? Seriously?
I mean what is a 5 year old supposed to say to someone telling them that they are not accepted if they wear the same t-shirt twice?
That is ridiculous. I don't get it: why would you do that to another human being?
And the other thing is: Why doesn't anyone do something about it.
If my whole class would have told that girl off for bullying me what would she have done? Or only 3 others would have been enough. She wouldn't have been able to exclude all of them and even if she did we would have been our own little group and none of us would have really been alone.
But no one did and it was horrible to live through.

So here is the video I was talking about:

I couldn't watch it for more then a minute because it felt like reliving what had happened to me. But at the same time I felt so bad for this poor woman because no one should have to live through that. And I mean no one!

Someone took this video, that was filmed by her bullies and uploaded to Facebook, downloaded it and uploaded it to their YouTube account. Within a week it went viral and people wanted to help this woman so they wanted to raise 3000$ so Karen could take a holiday. However within 3 weeks they raised around 600.000 $. That is because one person stepped up and tweeted about how shocking they found the video so people would notice it.

When Karen received the money she used 100.000 $ to launch a charity called the Karen Klein Foundation that is dedicated to tackling bullying across America.

Being bullied is always going to be a part of who I am and I can't change that anymore but we can all change it for others.

There will always be those who bully others but having a friend beside you that stands up for you can make all the difference.

I'm happy someone stepped up for Karen and seeing what came out of it is very inspiring.

I don't hold a grudge against the girl who bullied me and have even given her another chance because I believe that people can change.
I'm over it and to be honest I wouldn't be where I am today if it hadn't happened to me. And by that I don't mean that it was easy to endure or that I would do it again!
I have made my peace with it and all I now wanna do is change something for all of the kids that might still have it ahead of them.

DON'T LOOK AWAY!!

Duct Tape Surfing - Follow your dreams

Hello to all of you out there reading this :) I hope you have had a lovely day and if you live anywhere close to Augsburg you have hopefully been spending the day outside since the weather was amazing :)

And again I have a little clip for you to watch:

Watching this I got me thinking about dreams and how we have them but don't really follow them.
I mean why is that?
We (here in Europe) have so many opportunities we can literally do whatever we want but we barely do it.
I guess that's because we are scared of how it might turn out and we just feel to save with the life we have. We barely take risks.
I barely take risks. Which is kind of sad because there is a whole world out that just waits for us to explore it. All those different options that we have, we just need to take a leap of faith and go for it. How are we ever going to find out if our dream was doomed to fail if we don't even try?
I took a small risk by deciding to change my subject at university because what I'm currently doing just doesn't make me happy. And this new thing is not as save as what I am doing now but I honestly don't care because I have to go with what feels right for me. And this did not only feel right but instantly made me feel a lot better about myself. I still have this funny feeling about it but I ignore it most of the time because not matter what I'm gonna change subjects. It has to be done :)

So why don't we do this with things that we dream about? Take a little risk to get so much more out of it?
And we give up on our dreams so fast! I mean look at this women: she literally had her dream crushed but she wouldn't give up. There was no way she would let it go, ok she had to compromise a bit because she wasn't able to do it on her own, but who cares? She went for a surf with her sons that is all that counts.
She didn't give up and kept dreaming big and in the end she achieved it she managed to live her dream.
And I think that is really inspiring.
We should hold on to our dreams and never give up believing in them.
No one can crush our dreams but us and as long as we hold on to it it's not over.

I still believe that one day I can actually have a job that I enjoy doing. I might not know what that is yet but I'm convinced that if I keep doing what I love and what makes me happy I will end up exactly there.
and i know this sounds cheesy but following our dreams and doing what we love is the only way to really live life to the fullest.
There is this saying that most people only exist and don't actually live their life and I for one don't want to be one of those people.

So I'm gonna keep doing what I love even if other people think I have completely lost my mind but I do believe that as long as you love what you do you will be great at it and that always pays off.

So dream big everyone and don't let anyone tell you that it won't work out.
If you work hard you can achieve almost everything.

Incredible Work deserves to be Supported

Hi to everyone reading this. I hope you had a good start into the week.
Todays blog is about something a little more serious.
I subscribed to a channel on youtube called Jacksgap they have a lot of good videos on there but the new one really got to me.
So I wanted to share it aswell because the content is really important to me and I think the more people know about it the better. And also more people can help out :)

The Rainbow Center is a charity registered in the UK providing education, welfare and loving support to children living in extreme poverty in south western Sri Lanka.
I went to check them out after I had watched the video that Jack and Finn did on their channel. I read through their homepage and I have to say I really admire their work, it seems like something that really helps people out.

I always thought that helping people who aren't as lucky as I am is something that I kinda have to do. It's almost an obligation for me.

And I know not everyone feels that way but I just think that donating 10€ a month won't kill me or make a lot of difference for me but it will make a difference for other people.
I donate money every month to "Uno-Flüchtlingshilfe" who support people that had to flee their homes for whatever reason. They build tents and just trys to provide the most simple things we need to live.
I mean I consider myself privileged for being able to go to school and now to university, for having enough to eat and never having to worry about how I'm gonna survive the next day.
I know I also hated school when I was younger but now I know I should consider myself lucky for being given that opportunity.
So why not help kids who don't have that opportunity if no one donates money? I think I can spare a lot more then 10€ a month and as long as I think that it helps people I'm gonna keep donating money and hopefully make someone child somewhere in the world smile because they have just been given the chance to go to school. The chance to get an education and a chance to live a better life then their parents possibly did.

So watch the video and if you can why not donate some money to make some kids smile?

When Life gives you Lemons...

I think everyone has those days where you just wanna go back to bed and hide out there till the next day starts. But you have to go out anyways and take everything that life throws your way.
That's why I love this saying so much: When life gives you lemons make lemonade. You can't change the srap day you are having but you can most certainly change the way you feel about it.
THOSE days can be challenging but if you get through it you will feel so much better. And I know life can be a bitch sometimes and it is really easy to just pity yourself until it's over but where will that get you?
I love the fact that people who really had a lot of stuff happening to them are so happy sometimes even happier and more positiv than people whose lifes have been going smoothly. I'm always amazed when I see a handicapped person that I can help but pity is just so full of life. They are truly amazing people and very inspirring. If they can go through life the way they do why can't we even manage to smile on a s*** day?
I know it's hard but I really intend to do better at that.
Especially after a really good freind introduced me to this short film. I have to say I was very girly about it and creid ( I usually don't do that). It is such an inspiring story so I would advise you to watch it it will be 23 minutes well spend. I sure you ahve spend more than that on less sensible things today lol ( I know I have :D)

It's called Butterfly Circus and it's about this guy without limbs but check it our for yourselves.

Make lemonade everyone.

p.s: quick note about tomorrow! I have been cooking and baking new things the last couple of weeks and there was some really good things among all the stuff I made which I intend to share with you guys :)

A Life worth Living

We all have it. We are all given the same thing what matters is what we do with it.
Zach Sobiech died on 20. May this year but he made his life worth living. He died of cancer but the cancer wasn't able to kill his spirit and I truely think he was an awesome person. Even thoguh I don't know him his story is inspiring not only to people with cancer but to all of us. We can learn something from him.
And I really believe that although his disease was a horrible thing to happen he manage to trun it into a good thing.

He lived life to the fullest, never knowing if the great day he just had would be his last.
So lets honour our life and live every day like it could be our last because you never know what might happen.
