This Is Us

Hello everyone :)

If you are not a One Direction fan and you are not open minded then I suggest you stop reading right here and tune back in tomorrow, because I went to see their new movie.
This Is Us
And just like 'Best Song Ever' this was the 'Best Movie Ever' or at least one of the view movies this year that I actually don't regret spending money on.
When I found out about the early screening of the movie yesterday I reserved my friend and I 2 tickets without knowing if she would even be able to come.
Turns out she did have time to go with me which made all the hours of working today even harder.
By the end of my shift we were both so excited that we couldn't stop texting each other. This basically went on till we finally met up in front of the cinema.

Then came the point where we had to make a decision: Were we gonna go full support or just silently fangirl during the movie.
We went for full support and showed our dedication to this movie and our excitement. And I am not ashamed of it one bit :D

Yes we did draw hearts on our cheeks with eye liner and wrote Louis and Harry in them :D That is the thing to do when watching This Is Us :)

When we walked into the toilet like that, a girl shouted: Go Louis. And we all had a little fangirl moment together :)
Yes I am 21 ( almost 22) and I get excited for a One Direction movie and I couldn't care less what other people think.
I am not one of those really dedicated fans but I do enjoy their music very much so not going to see the movie was not even an option.

Me and my lovely friend did feel a bit old though because there literally only was 12 year olds surrounding us and non of them were as dedicated as we were haha.

And then the impossible happened: 2 guys walked into the cinema. I know shocker right? :D At first there was utter silence and then all of the girls in there started whistling and clapping. The two guys were a bit embarrassed but quickly started to enjoy their 30 seconds of fame :) And no they did not come with girlfriends!!
I have to say this because actually all of my guy friends said that they would never go see this movie and that they believed, men would only go see it if their girlfriends made them go.
So again: These two guys came all by themselves and were not ashamed to yell through the whole cinema: What? They are really cool!
You go boys, show them :)

If you still have no idea what I am talking about then watch the trailer:

And I know what most of you will say: This is a movie only for fans.
And I will admit: Yes it is but for completely different reasons.
Fans will watch this for moments where Harry is shirtless or moments where they can get a close-up of their favourite member but there is so much more to this movie.
There is this whole other side to it, that obviously is interesting for the fans but not only for Directioners, as they like to call themselves. As we like to call ourselves :)

This film is about so much more than fangirling.
There is this one moment where Niall says: We are normal boys, we do everything other boys our age do at university. It is our job that is abnormal.

'This Is Us' is about the journey of One Direction. It's as much about the fans as it is about the group.
Louis calls it teamwork at one point, because there would be no One Direction without fans.
It is very interesting to see how much of an impact social media had on their careers as well. It all started of in the UK but within weeks the whole world new about One Direction. This would not be possible without Twitter or Youtube.
They after all are the biggest boy band of the world. Not even the Beatles were this famous or well known.

You also get a glimpse into their private lives. What it means to be on tour for 10 months. What it means to be on tour and produce and album at the same time.
There is this whole other side to One Direction or every other singer out there that fans normally wouldn't be able to experience but 'This Is Us' made it possible.

So wether you are a Directioner or not this is a movie that everyone can enjoy. It is very well made with some really cool effects.
Not only was it fun to watch but it also was a movie that I will definitely go see again.
And the fact that you watch it with other fans is priceless. We were singing along to the songs and screamed a little when shirtless Harry flickered across the screen. It was an experience on it's own, one that I genuinely wouldn't want to miss.
And fangirl or not I can tell you you will enjoy it. If not for naked members then for seeing how fame doesn't necessarily change you if you don't let it.

And I don't regret having a heart on my cheek with Louis name in it even though a lot of people gave me weird looks. I will wear it with pride although I will probably never be able to live in peace again because my flat mates will tease me for weeks.
I am a Directioner and I'm not ashamed of it. Suck it haters :D

Lone Ranger

Hello everyone :)

Have you been to the movies recently? I have twice during the last 2 weeks actually.
So last Thursday my flat mate decided that it was time to go watch a film again.
We had been to the movies the week before and the lady at the counter recognized us.
Which led her to ask: Do you want one seat for the two of you again? ( The week before she kindly gave us one of these seats that are made for couples) Yeah she did not really get why we didn't want one again. It had been awkward enough the week before :D

The film we ended up watching was Lone Ranger. Now I had only heard bad stuff about the movie so I didn't really have high expectations.
The movie actually wasn't that bad at all, I was surprised by it. Johnny Depp was his usual weird self much like Captain Jack Sparrow but still so different.
I enjoyed myself and we did share some good laughs.

I don't really have much to say about it I think everyone needs to see for themselves. It is one of those movies that you either like or you don't, there is no in between.
Johnny Depp is brilliant as ever and I always like movies that him and Helena Bonham Carter do together.

I can recommend Lone Ranger if you like:
- Johnny Depps slightly strange manner
- movies that might end up being a bit confusing
- being left with a feeling of having missed half of the story
- good fight scenes
- and a lot of black humor jokes :)

If you go see it let me know what you thought :)

Movies

Hi guys!

How is the weather where ever you are?
It is such a glorious day outside but right now it is way to hot to be out there. The weather forecast predicted 39°C for today and  it is around 1 pm. S since it's the hottest time of the day I decided to hide inside and write this cheeky little blog post and then go back outside and enjoy the rest of the day with my cousin in Munich.

I personally really enjoys a good film. I own a lot of  dvd's, but not all of those movies are that good. Some I just bought because they are funny or because we needed them for our youth group at church.
But there is 2 movies in my collection that are absolutely amazing. They are my favourite films to watch, apart from the 'Lord of the Rings-Trilogy'. But the problem with 'Lord of the Rings' is that not everyone likes the genre of the film. A lot of my friends have never seen it because the just don't like fantasy in general.
So I chose 2 films that everyone could watch.

Dead Poets Society:

This movie is quite old but nevertheless it is one of the best movies out there. At least for me.
It's about a group of young students that discover their love for literature with the help of their new teacher. And throughout  that process they slowly figure out who they are as much as what they want in life.
Their teacher (devotedly played by Robin Williams) breaks away from traditional teaching because he thinks it doesn't do literature any justice. He takes them away from just reading things and instead gets them really thinking about it, to a point where they meat in a cave and start reading poems in their spare time.
I don't think you have to enjoy literature as much as I do to enjoy this film. It just genuinely is an amazing movie.
It shows how difficult it is growing up if you have no one to believe in you. And I think it is a great example of an incredible teacher. I think if more teachers would be like the one Robin Williams embodies in this movie there would be a lot more creative people out there.
Every time I watch this movie I go away with the wish to read a book.

Here is a great clip from the movie, that shows how dedicated they are to their teacher because they respect and love him that much for what he has given them:

It is such a beautiful movie with a sad ending that makes me cry every time.

On a much lighter note I have a movie that is a bit newer and very funny.

Little Miss Sunshine:

The movie is about this chubby little girl Olive that wants to become a beauty queen. As result the whole family goes on a journey through America to get to California for her beauty pageant.
It soon becomes clear that there is a lot more to that family then just the little girls obsession with winning this competition, called Little Miss Sunshine.
Her brother doesn't talk because he wants to make a point, her uncle tried to kill himself because the guy he fell in love with didn't love him back and her grandfather is coaching her strip tease moves for her performance at the pageant. A lot of things happen while they travel across the country and most of it is pretty hilarious.
But although this movie obviously is a comedy it has a pretty good message that it brings across. Because the core of this movie is not the journey to that pageant but the journey they take as a family. It is a cute movie with a great story. And Abigail Breslin is amazing in her role as Olive. Because this little girl is a pure as she is innocent. In her own way she is the reason the family grows together because with the wisdom of a child she understands what is going on without actually knowing it.

Little Miss Sunshine is a great movie for a family movie night or to watch with friends and I can highly recommend it.

Have a good day everyone. I'm going to further enjoy the sunshine :)

Movie Review - World War Z

Since I said I would do a movie review I'm going to upload 2 blog entries today because I didn't want to fit them into one entry.

I went to the movies last night for a late night screening of Wolrd War Z at 11pm. I don't usually go to the movies that late but since it was Saturday today and my friends couldn't do an earlier one we chose to go this late.
Now I have to say I didn't really watch any trailers beforehand and the only real thing I knew was that it was about zombies and Brad Pitt was playing the main character. This normally wouldn't be enough for me to go see a movie but I hadn't been to the cinema in a while so I thougth I would give it a try.
Since it is a 3D movie it was quite expensive and I don't really like 3D movies. I would much rather watch them in HD but they simply didn't show World War Z in 2D so we had to go see it in 3D.
I'm mentioning this now because I believe that the movie didn't gain anything by being in 3D. I genuinely believe it would have been better in 2D but that might just be me.

I'm gonna tell you my thoughts on it and show you the trailer afterwards. Maybe let me know in the comments if that is a good way to do it or not.

I enjoyed the beginning of the movie because it didn't just throw you into the story but actually gave you some time to get to know the main characters which made it a lot easier to sympathize with them throughout the movie.
From there on out it hit off quite quickly but not in a way that made you feel like you were missing out on some important information and the breakout of the 'zombieness' was shown in a way that I can totally see happening in that way (if zombies would actually exist :D)

The movie didn't lack showing human interaction in a time of crisis and what an extreme situation like that can do to people.
For most of the scenes it was a bit predictable with the usual scene where they walk past a dark alley and a zombie jumps out.
Now I'm not that easily scared but I nearly punched my friend in the face one time because although I knew the zombie was gonna come out of that alley I still jumped. So it's predictable but they managed to do it in a way where you know what is going to happen but it doens't quite happen the way you expected it to.
So although the outcome might be the same it keeps it interesting.
And I have to say it was thrilling from the moment the zombie virus, or whatever it was, broke out to the moment they had found a way to survive. And there was a lot of lip biting involved on our parts.

And for all of us German people you will get to witness Moritz Bleibtreu in action and I know I might be spoiling here but he survives :D

Althoug I enjoyed watching it I wouldn't necessarily call it a good movie in a way that  Million Dollar Baby or Dead Poets Society were but it was one of the view zombie movies I actually liked.
It's good fun and has a good plot. And if you like zombie movies I would recommend you go and watch it. If you are not a fan of 3D and they show it in 2D at your cinema chose the 2D version though.

So here is the trailer :

Enjoy your Sunday everyone :)
