Creative Sundays

Yeah it is my favourite day of the week. At least blog wise :D
It's the day everything is about creativity :)
So welcome all of you to creative Sundays!

All of you that read my blog regularly will know that I have been up to a lot of creative things this week so this is the perfect way to end it :)
And because I was drawing till 4.30 am on friday night and had to get up at 8 again and was out with friends last night I didn't get a lot of sleep this weekend. I have basically been spending today in bed watching youtube videos. Also my back has gotten really bad lately and I will have to go see a doctor on Monday because it probably is another thing that I hurt in the accident. ( read about what happened by clicking here) It's really annoying because I can't really sit or stand for long at the moment so being in bed really was one of the only things to do today. I'm just hoping tomorrow turns out okay and I can finally be done with this whole accident thing. I'm so over it at this point.

I also realised that it was a brilliant idea to show you my drawingy on friday when it would have been a perfect thing to do today :D so that happened....
But there was other things that caught my eye this week that I quite liked. Most of them are from youtube since Charly was the only thing keeping me company today :) Find out who Charly is: click.

I'm a big fan of the Graham Norton Show
Sadly we can't really watch it in Germany I only get to watch it on youtube so that's what I did when I found this :) Will Smith has been on before and performed the theme song to Prince of Bel-Air (if you don't know what that is I highly recommend you go and google it because oh my.. you have been missing out :D).

That is one creative way to celebrate 1 million subscribers to his channel :) When I first saw it I couldn't stop laughing and then I started watching it over and over again because it is really catchy. And this song hit of in the comedy charts in the UK which I think is very well deserved!

When I watched this I was really confused cause I had no idea what it was about and I did not anticipate the twist a t the end :D
I just think it's a bit disturbing but nevertheless cute... somehow.
Am I weird because I think that?

Have a good start into the week.

Movie Review - World War Z

Since I said I would do a movie review I'm going to upload 2 blog entries today because I didn't want to fit them into one entry.

I went to the movies last night for a late night screening of Wolrd War Z at 11pm. I don't usually go to the movies that late but since it was Saturday today and my friends couldn't do an earlier one we chose to go this late.
Now I have to say I didn't really watch any trailers beforehand and the only real thing I knew was that it was about zombies and Brad Pitt was playing the main character. This normally wouldn't be enough for me to go see a movie but I hadn't been to the cinema in a while so I thougth I would give it a try.
Since it is a 3D movie it was quite expensive and I don't really like 3D movies. I would much rather watch them in HD but they simply didn't show World War Z in 2D so we had to go see it in 3D.
I'm mentioning this now because I believe that the movie didn't gain anything by being in 3D. I genuinely believe it would have been better in 2D but that might just be me.

I'm gonna tell you my thoughts on it and show you the trailer afterwards. Maybe let me know in the comments if that is a good way to do it or not.

I enjoyed the beginning of the movie because it didn't just throw you into the story but actually gave you some time to get to know the main characters which made it a lot easier to sympathize with them throughout the movie.
From there on out it hit off quite quickly but not in a way that made you feel like you were missing out on some important information and the breakout of the 'zombieness' was shown in a way that I can totally see happening in that way (if zombies would actually exist :D)

The movie didn't lack showing human interaction in a time of crisis and what an extreme situation like that can do to people.
For most of the scenes it was a bit predictable with the usual scene where they walk past a dark alley and a zombie jumps out.
Now I'm not that easily scared but I nearly punched my friend in the face one time because although I knew the zombie was gonna come out of that alley I still jumped. So it's predictable but they managed to do it in a way where you know what is going to happen but it doens't quite happen the way you expected it to.
So although the outcome might be the same it keeps it interesting.
And I have to say it was thrilling from the moment the zombie virus, or whatever it was, broke out to the moment they had found a way to survive. And there was a lot of lip biting involved on our parts.

And for all of us German people you will get to witness Moritz Bleibtreu in action and I know I might be spoiling here but he survives :D

Althoug I enjoyed watching it I wouldn't necessarily call it a good movie in a way that  Million Dollar Baby or Dead Poets Society were but it was one of the view zombie movies I actually liked.
It's good fun and has a good plot. And if you like zombie movies I would recommend you go and watch it. If you are not a fan of 3D and they show it in 2D at your cinema chose the 2D version though.

So here is the trailer :

Enjoy your Sunday everyone :)

Update from my Life

Hello to you :) I hope your week was as good as mine and you can sit in front of your computer or notebook now and say that you are happy.

Because I finally am again.
If you read my update on Monday you will know that I have been missing something in my life lately and it was my creative side so I have been rediscovering it over the last week.
So far it has been an amazing journey and I can't wait for what's next. I have had so many great ideas already a lot of them including this blog and I can't wait for the people who read this blog to see them.

Another thing that made me really happy this week was this:
All of you meet Charly :) I love him very much :D

I get overlky excited about things but buying this was liturally the best thing that happened to me this week. Mainly because I finally managed to save enough money to buy it and because now I can get rid of my old laptop because it basically just is a pile of electronic waste since it nothing works anymore :D

and I have been drawing like a champ this week which is another thing that made me really happy. I don't regret spending 40 € on crayons at all ( I got Faber Castell ones that's why they cost that much).
Yes I'm a happy bunny this week and what's even better is the fact that I managed to figure out what was holding me back and fix it.
Somehow solving something like this on my own always gives me a great feeling of satisfaction.
I spend time with myself and came up with a solution and since then I feel amazing like a huge weight has been liftet of my shoulders and I enjoy my life again.
Getting out of bed in the morning is not as hard anymore and I have been in a good mood all week. I'm hoping it goes on for a lot longer :)

I don't really know if this post was interesting... probably not :D But I just felt like sharing this :)

So here is what my creative mind has been producing during the week :)

I'm not done with this one yet, obviously :D But I'm kinda trying to have the dragon look through a whole in a brick wall. And there is ivx growign everywhere... maybe I'll show you as soon as I'm done although this kinda is more of a long shot :)

I just doodling and this is what came out of it. I'm not to happy with it yet so I'll keep working on that one :)
This was the first thing I drew this week and I'm actually quite happy with the way it turned out :)

Food Friday - Meyerbeer Coffee

Since we don't have a Starbucks here in Augsburg and driving down to Munich every day to get my dose of coffee just isn't an option, I'm always looking for alternatives.
I have tried quite a view places in and around Augsburg and Meyerbeer Coffee seems to be the one I keep coming back to.

As you can see they serve quite a lot of different sorts of coffee and I would have to say that they are almost like the ones you can get at Starbucks. You can also get most of those coffes frozen much like the frappuccinos at Starbucks.

Since I don't really like the taste of coffee itself but as a student still need the caffeine I like to go for the white chocolate mocha which technically is a white hot chocolate with a shot of espresso. It is quite sweet and doesn't really taste like coffee but that's what I love about it :) And it tastes amazing cold.
They also serve quite a wide range of smoothies and teas.

And just like in Starbucks you can get muffins and cake although I have to say they are not cheap (2,40€ for a muffin). I havn't tried any of their cakes yet cause I just love my muffins with chocolate or raspberry-yogurt but I went with a friend the other day and she had some lemon cake that apparently was very tasty.
They also have some snacks such as bagels or sandwiches.

Meyerbeer Coffee

I took my coffee to go today so I could finish my drawing and maybe study a bit :D

They have very comfy armchairs with floral fabric and chandeliers which makes you feel like you are in some sort of royal tearoom. Also I do love the wallpaper very much and it goes well with the furniture they used.
What I like a lot about this place is that it doesn't get as noisy as it does in Starbucks. It's a really cute little café.

You can even sit outside which would be lovely on a warm day since they even have armchairs outside but Meyerbeer Coffee is a bit badly situatied because it is right next to the train station.
There is cars going past and cabs picking up and dropping off people. That's the only disadvantage I can think of that this lovely little place has.

So if you, like me, have been looking for an alternative to Starbucks this is the place to go :)

Enjoy your weekend everyone and I shall 'see' all of you tomorrow :) Maybe with a little movie review :)

Throwback Thursday IV

Hello to all of you out there :)

It is Thursday again which means it is time to reconnect with mini me and see what I got up to when I was little.

So I guess all of us have some scars somewhere on their body which they got when they were little. Now I have quite a view and a lot of stories that come with them, most of which are pretty entertaining.

That one time my mum took us with her to visit a friend and we ended up playing with their kids.
Next to the house was this steep hill that they had built a road on that somehow cars weren't allowed to use. So we thought it would be a really good idea to take our bikes and ride them down the hill.
Now I was scared of going down hills on a bike and that caused me to go quite slow and always use the brakes. Also my bike wasn't the best one which meant I wouldn't have been able to go as fast as the others even if I wanted to.
We went down that hill over and over again till one of the others decided that I definitely had to try it on a different bike.
I should probably mention that mini me was only 6 years old at that point, so I was easily convinced that I was totally missing out on something. So I went up that hill with a bike from one of the boys (another thing to mention is that my bike had that thing where it would brake if you backpedaled).
If you went down that hill you had to brake pretty hard at the end since the street made a sharp turn to the right and if you missed that you would end up driving straight into a kerb that was about 10 cm high.
Mini me finally made it up the hill end raced down with this incredibly fast bike that only had brakes at the front which I did not know...
I guess you can all see where this is going and yes I did not make it around that corner and rode my bike directly towards that kerb.

I tried braking but backpedaling did not do anything so I kinda went head over heels over that kerb and used my face as a brake. I can tell you that was not a good idea :D

Almost the whole side of my left face was skinned and you can imagine that with scab it looked even worse.
The worst part of this whole thing though was that it was my first day at school 2 days later. So epic fail on that note :D

Please bare in mind that these pictures are 16 years old and back then we didn't have digital cameras so these are scanned version of the originals therefore they are very oldschool :D
So this is how I looked on my first day of school with my ruined face. I was trying to hide it but my dad got me anyways :)

I'm very fortunate since the scars faded away after a good 5 years.
Today you can't see them anymore although I have a new one on the right side of my face. I'm a bit of a dork and apparently therefore am not able to walk straight which caused me to fall with a baking dish made of glass in my hands.
Yeah I cut my face :D

What did you guys do when you were younger? Are your scars still visable or have you been as fortunate as me and they faded?
Let me know :)

A quick note to yesterdays blog entry:

A friend reminded me that the best dressed man is Chuck Bass. For all of you that don't know who that is: Go watch Gossip Girl :D
Although I have to say that he pulled of some quite ridiculous outfits in the first 2 seasons :D After that I would have to agree with my friend and say he wears some pretty fashionable suits.

Clothes / Mode

Hello all of you out there :)

I thought that since I'm using all this social network stuff I might aswell put it to some use.
So this week I spend most of my afternoons going through Tumblr searching the #clothes and #mode to see what would happen.
I can tell you I spend so many hours going through all these really amazing blogs that I found on Tumblr that I almost forgot why I ended up going through them in the first place.
Social networks just suck you right in, don't they? It's actually a bit scary how much time you can loose. It's a good procrastionation though if what you should actually be doing is study :D
There is so many talented people out there that have crazy ideas and use social networks to get other people to notice them. Not a bad way of doing it becasue there is millions of people that you can get feedback from :)
So searching those hashtags I found so many cool clothes and thought I would share my most favourite things with all of you.  (and no I didn't just come up with stuff for women :D)

I will also link you the blogs that I got the picture from so you can go check those out if you like :)

I'm a bit of a fan of bracelets and I love wearing loads of them and I do also like to tuck my t-shirts in so that's what makes me love this outfit. Altough it also makes me kinda sad that I cut my hair off :D

This is something I wish I was brave enough to wear because I love every piece of it. Well maybe I would have to leave out the sun glasses since I'm already wearing some :D But I really like the short top with a high waist skirt.

Tumblr   If anyone can tell me where I can get these trousers I will pay whatever money they cost. I also really like the way she is wearing them although again I would probably not be brave enough to try that and just go for the save option: wearing a baggy t-shirt with them.

Everyone who knows me will be able to tell you that I have the exact same outfit in my wardrobe (Emma: yeah!!!)

Tumblr

What I like about trousers like those is that you can wear them on a night out or just for a casual day with friends depending on what you combine them with. Now I wasn't lucky enough to find some that fit me yet but as soon as I do, they will go straight into my wardrobe.

Tumblr

Tumblr

I have to be honest: I just liked the picture :D Of course I also quite like what he is wearing although I think that there is certain kind of men that are able to pull this look of and with others I think it looks ridiculous. A look like this one just doens't suit all men if you aks me.

Tumblr
I like this look a lot though I have to admit I would dig it even more if he had worn jeans with it because I'm just not a fan of white trousers combined with leather jackets but that might just be me :) Let me know in the comments if you would either wear it like that or think it looks good or if you agree with me. Oh and also: What is going on with those purple shoe laces? :D

Tumblr
Now if I ever find a man wearing this, who is not gay I will marry him straightaway. Ok the ring is up for discussion and I'm even willing to reason about the bag aswell as the bracelet and necklace but everything else is not debatable :D

Link

So here it is people: That's what I found and liked.
Enjoy this lovely evening as long as the sun stays out and have a good night everyone :)

My Wedding Speech

Hello to all of you out there who are reading this :)

No I'm not married but this video is about someone who is :)

This video has gone viral ever since it was posted on January 6th this year. It currently has 10.380.818 views.
It shows a guy called Tom Fletcher giving a speech at his own wedding. Tom Fletcher is the lead singer and guitarist of a pretty famous British band called McFly. They have sold over 10 million albums since 2003 and he has also wirtten songs for other bands like the song 'I want' performed by One Direction.

I just found this video today although I had heard about it before. Considering over 10 million people have watched it before me, I'm guessing some of you migth already know it, well I saw it for the first time today.
I was genuinley blown away by it and that is not just because it is utterly romantic. To be quite honest I'm not the biggest fan of big romantic gestures but this speech is something that even got me.
How he starts of by saying he gets nervous whenever he has to give a speech so he just wrote a song made me laugh.
And I admire his creativity which always reminds me of my grandma because she always used to tell us: You don't have to be able to do everything but you have to be able to help yourself.
And this video shows how right she was: He can't give speeches but he can write songs and he can sing so why not do it that way.
I loved watching this video and how all his friends and family reacted to him singing his speech.
And yes it is incredibly romantic of him to do that and I would love to have something like that at my wedding although I think it wouldn't be original anymore.... mhm.
Well I still believe that a lot of us girls out there probably want their future husband to do something like this which puts a lot of pressure on men :D

Regardless of that he did a great job with it and I thought it was worth sharing even though over 10 million people have already seeen it :)

Have a good night everyone. I'm left with cleaning my flat for now... hope you guys have more interesting and fun things to do lol

Monday

Hello to all of you out there :)

It is Monday, the first day of a new week. I thought it would be a good day to finally face the fact that I'm not happy with the way things go at the moment.
Ever since my accident I have been feeling restless like I was missing out on something. I thought I just had to get my life back together and focus on the semester ahead but it has only gotten worse since then.
I don't feel like going to university is enough for me anymore, somethinng is missing and it took me a really long time to figure that out.
Along the way of figuring it out I started this blog and it seemed to help for a while but now after almost 2 months this feeling of missing out on something is back. I don't feel complete anymore and then I realised that what I miss most is being creativ. Living the creative side of myself. I had suppressed it for to long!!

Here at university I go to lectures and attend all my courses and try to fit all this information into my head.
All I really do is put stuff in there without doing anything with it.
I have basically lost all touch with my creative side and I remember listening to a speech by Sir Ken Robinson about school killing creativity and thinking that university had done the exact same thing with me.
That is why creating this blog, where I could just ramble on about whatever I wanted, helped me feel better.
This blog is something I really wanted to do, it has created a plattform where I can take stuff out of my head and write about it.
But it wasn't enough, there was still to much stuff that my brain wanted to get rid off, ideas that had to be released.
I have such an urge to be creative to express myself that just sitting at university taking more and more information in was nothing I could do in the long run.

Whilst being in school I was in a choir and in our drama club.
In my free time I was writing poems and short stories and whenever there was time I would go out with a camera and take pictures.
I didn't realise that I needed all those things until I stopped doing it because I thought concentrating on my degree was more important now.
And wow was I wrong.
Over the last 3 month I have been doubting myself and every desicion I made since going to university because the only thing I new for sure was that I wasn't happy.
That doing what I did was not satisfying.

And I finally figured out why: I need to start reconnecting with creative me. I need to start drawing again. I need to buy a camera so I can take pictures of things and people.
And I might need to find a way to be on stage again because that is my passion. Rehearsing for a play and getting into charakter always gave me a feeling of satisfaction. It wasn't even so much about the final moment when you are on stage, for me it was the whole experience. Rehearsing for months, being with all the other people that help bring a play to life and this feeling of belonging. Over time we would grow together as a group and at the end you had a whole bunch of new friends outside your own class and most of the time even outside your usual group of friends. That's what I loved so much about it and I just completely forgot about that feeling while I was focused on my degree.
It made me sad and at the same time I came to a decision: Even though I might not be able to be on stage anymore, because there is no drama club at university, I will most certainly go to the theater more. Since I moved to Augsburg I have been once and before that we used to go at least once a month. Now I go to the movies a lot because that is what most of my friends like to do but it's not the same. It doesn't give me what I used to get from going to the theater. There is no way of comparing an actor in a movie to one that is on stage. It is a different experience.

So I went out today to buy 2 things:
1. I bought proper crayons and some real paper because that stuff I use to write my notes on might be enough for that but I needed something else. I needed paper that wouldn't remind me of notes, paper that was for something else entirely. Cost me quite a bit of money but I already feel better.
Just knowing that there is the possibillity of doing something creative inbetween all the studying shut up that little person in my head telling me I wasn't doing what I loved doing anymore.
2. a monthly pass to the theater. Again not cheap but I don't regret doing it at all.

Now this little nag in my head is silent and I hope it stays that way for a while.
Other than that I have concluded that I might need to change my subject at university. As for now I'm studying lectureship with English and German as my main subjects.
Now I don't want to change those but I think lectureship might not be the right thing for me after all.
I will figure that out this week and see how just changing what I do now into a bachelor of arts in German and English works out and if I'm going to survive that decision since my dad is a teacher and is probably going to kill me for that :D ( no he is not but still breaking that to my parents might take a lot of courage)

And here is some music since that is what Mondays are all about :)
I have been listening to this song quite a lot this week as it also is the song that I write my blog posts to :)
I dn't know what it is about this song that makes wiritng a lot easier :)

So if you have a little nag in your head telling you that you need to change something you should do it.
And if you are to creative to sit still and just memorise things then get up and do something else until you can sit again.

If it makes you happy it is always the right thing to do!!!!

Creative Sundays - Street Art

Hello to all the lovely people out there :) Did you have a good weekend?

Steet art or defacing of walls?
I enjoy art in every way there is and quite frankly I don't think that there is limitations to creativity or art for that matter. So for me painting walls or spraying them with graffiti is not nescessarily art but if it's well done I definitely consider it art.
Now I know that there is probably a lot of people out there who say that something can only be called art if it is painted on paper or a canvas and I don't say they are wrong but I just think that art is more than that. Especially now that people have more ways to creatively express themselves the term art can be defined in so many ways. And I think especially older people need ot be more open to new things like street art for example.
And I'm in no way saying that spraying your name on a exterior wall of a house is art, that is just plain pointless in my opinion and I fully support people who say it's criminal damage to private property, particullary if it was a family home. If on the other hand there is someone really talented like the person doing this:

Artist: 34 Crew, Munich (I did not take this picture)
and they just painted a wall then I would consider it art.  And why not decorate a really boring wall in a public place with a painting like this one? I for one kind of like walking around a city and looking at all the street art. Sometimes I even stand in front of a painted wall for several minutes so I can take in all the details.
There are so many brilliant artists out there and if that is their way of showing their work to world then I say go for it and I do believe that it is a good way to try new stuff and see if people like it.
When I went looking online for a couple of good ones I could use on here I liturally lost 3 hours of my life. I was so fascinated by all those paintings I found that it was really hard to only choose like 4 of them.

Artist: Banksy (Street Art Utopia)
“Nothing in the world is more common than unsuccessful people with talent, leave the house before you find something worth staying in for. ” - Banksy

There is a really famous street artist called Stik, some of you might have even heard of him. His paintings are all over London and he's best known for his 'Stik People' which are pretty much stickman in black and white but the places he puts them and what they do is what makes them special and him a genius.

Artist: Stik, London
In East London they even do 'Street Art Tours' and next time I'm in London I'll definitely do one of those. If you currently are in London and have not done it yet but are interested in street art: Why not do it?
They also feature Pablo Delgado whos diminutiv figures can only be seen if you look down whilst walking through London.

Here is one I found here in Augsburg sadly I have no idea who did it but I just liked what it said because it's so ironic :D

Well that's charming

Another thing that I would like to share is this 2 songs made by an artist from Berlin who dedicated them to Berlin's street art scene. I thought it was a very cool idea to kind off find street art that says something and then put it into a song. It's also really well made and the credit for finding that actually goes to my flatmate :)

They have their own channel so if you like their stuff go and subsrcribe :) It's called: EastCrossProject

I think Stik or Banksy and all these others are amazingly creative people who have found another way of expressing themselves. A new way and a little less vintage maybe?

What I would love to know is: What do you people out there think about street art? Is it art or is it just scratchwork that ruins our streets? And should people like Stik be considered artist?

Festivals, Exams and Stuff

Hello to all of you lovely people out there :)
I hope you had a great week and have all been enjoying the sun as much as I have. And hopefully you all got through the crazy weather on Thursday without any bruises from hail or serious damage to your car and house.
I went to the park across the street today and there is heaps of trees that fell over and now just lie around on the paths and in the meadow. I haven't talked to my parents yet so I don't know if anything happened to our house but I'm fairly confident that if something happened I would know by now.

I started this blog post this morning right after I got up and was really busy with studying since then but I'm going to finish it now before I got to the movies with some friends. We are going to see the new Superman movie which I'm a bit excited for and it starts in about an hour. I'm a little stressed atm with finishing this and getting dressed since I kinda spend all day in my sweatpants lol. What else is there to wear whilst studying really :)
By now I have also managed to talk to my parents and they are fine. In fact it wasn't even that bad for them they had a bit of wind and only a fairly small thunderstorm so they were a bit surprised when I told them what went down here in Augsburg. So yeah they are fine just in case anyone was wondering :)

So my flatmate has recently been to a big festival with a lot of bands and stuff it started on a Friday and they went there the Wednesday before that to get a space for their tent and all that. There are more then 50 bands playing throughout that weekend so there is loads to see.
However my flatmate managed to see 3 bands that weekend and I liturally have no clue as to wehat he did the rest of the time. I mean yes he spend a lot of his time there drunk, as do most of the people who go there but still: 3 bands? Really?
At first I was a little shocked considering that they had really amazing ones this year that he completly missed out on for example: 30 Seconds of Mars, Limp Bizkit, Imagine Dragons, Hurts, Volbeat and I could go on with this.

On top of that though he came home on sunday totally hungover and showed me what else he did while he was there: That idiot got his nipple pierced :D I was laughing so hard when he showed me it was just hilarious. So apparently he thought it would be a really good idea to get it done ( it's needless to say that this was his drunk mind who decided that :D)
I just laughed hysterically for about 10 minutes about the whole thing I still think its genius :D
He seems to be really happy with it though and I don't have anything against it I just think the circumstances of him getting it were a bit strange :D

But that's why I love my flatmates so much: It never gets boring here haha

Other then that I was just really busy with the stuff I had to read for all my courses and all my revising for the finaly exams at the end of the semester. It's crazy how time flies by sometimes. I still can believe that my 2. semester is almost over....

Enjoy your evening and be nice :)
