Lone Ranger

Hello everyone :)

Have you been to the movies recently? I have twice during the last 2 weeks actually.
So last Thursday my flat mate decided that it was time to go watch a film again.
We had been to the movies the week before and the lady at the counter recognized us.
Which led her to ask: Do you want one seat for the two of you again? ( The week before she kindly gave us one of these seats that are made for couples) Yeah she did not really get why we didn't want one again. It had been awkward enough the week before :D

The film we ended up watching was Lone Ranger. Now I had only heard bad stuff about the movie so I didn't really have high expectations.
The movie actually wasn't that bad at all, I was surprised by it. Johnny Depp was his usual weird self much like Captain Jack Sparrow but still so different.
I enjoyed myself and we did share some good laughs.

I don't really have much to say about it I think everyone needs to see for themselves. It is one of those movies that you either like or you don't, there is no in between.
Johnny Depp is brilliant as ever and I always like movies that him and Helena Bonham Carter do together.

I can recommend Lone Ranger if you like:
- Johnny Depps slightly strange manner
- movies that might end up being a bit confusing
- being left with a feeling of having missed half of the story
- good fight scenes
- and a lot of black humor jokes :)

If you go see it let me know what you thought :)

Creative Sundays

Hello everyone :)

Last day of the weekend... at least for those of you who either go to work or still have school... Wait is there still people who are not on their summer holidays yet? I have no idea it's been to long since I left school I guess.
Ok that was a lie it has only been 2 years but I have already forgotten during what times of the year we used to have holidays. Is that something I should be worried about? I hope not :)

So here comes the creative stuff that either originated in my brain or my mind got attracted to. Mhm that sounded a lot less sexual in my head. Never mind, lets just get started :)

If you get stuck in one place just open a new door and see what’s behind it … It can only get better

This a picture I snapped of a door I quite liked and just edited a bit. Well people seemed to like it so I thought I might as well share it with you guys and see what you think :) I'd like to know what you think and maybe I will make more in the future?

And another truly inspiring clip that I found this week has to be shared :)

And again we learn: It is never to late to start doing what you love and there truly is nothing that can hold you back.

On that note: Have a lovely week everyone and I shall see all of you tomorrow. Maybe with a little announcement... but I might have to think about that for a little longer. You'll just have to wait and see!

Trekstock

Hello everyone :)

I have been a bit of a good person again lately :D No that's a lie but this post is a bit serious so the only way for me to get this out there is with a bit of humor. Hope no one gets offended by that and if so I'm sorry in advance.

As you can read in the title, this post is about Trekstock. Now I get that a lot of you probably have no idea what Trekstock is, but that's what I'm here for.
Trekstock is a charity that supports young people with cancer.

I support a lot of different charities all over the world and have just recently added Trekstock to the list.
Now why is it important for me to support Trekstock you might ask yourselves. I don't have cancer myself but I have had my fair share of people in my family and social environment that died of it.

When I was about 11 my granddad fell sick with lung cancer and my whole family watcher him fade away over quite a long period of time. I think it was almost 1,5 years at the end.
Now my grandpa has smoked all his life so it wasn't the biggest surprise that he got lung cancer but it still was hard on all of us.
After he was first diagnosed he spend a lot of time in hospital until my mum checked him out of hospital because in her opinion there wasn't much else they could do. As a result of that my grandma and grandpa went away to a rehabilitation centre for people with cancer. And that was also the first time us kids were allowed to visit him. He started to recover a bit and looked like a human again which was the reason our parents would let us visit.
My mum, sister and I spend a weekend with my grandma and my grandpa there and so did my other cousins with their parents.
Sadly him feeling good didn't last very long and his health went down hill pretty fast from there.
However my mum and her sisters (all of them work in health care in some way) decided that it would be best to keep him at home. He stayed in bed most of the time because he was to weak to sit or walk.
I remember we had a kindle of rabbits at that time. Our grandpa had always been the one who loved taking care of our rabbits as much as we did. We spend hours sitting on the floor in his room and telling him about the little baby rabbits, hoping he would live long enough so we could show him one of them. He did and I can still see the smile of his face, when my mum told us we were allowed to go and get one of the rabbits.
This is one of the last pictures I have of him, he looks so happy. His name was Herbert as you can probably tell :)

During the final months leading up to his death we were not allowed in his room anymore. He started to look more and more like a skeleton. His cheeks were hollow and wherever you touched him he would bruise. It was horrible because he didn't look anything like the person we had known. I mean I was 11 and my sister was 8, we had no idea what was going on.

But he wasn't the last person we lost to cancer in my family. The husband of my dad's sister died about 1 years after my granddad. He died of liver cancer that caused him to go yellow. My sister and I were scared to death when we visited them because we had no idea who that person was. He looked so different from the person that we had spend time with painting.
My uncle was a great artist and he used to show us around his studio letting us mix paint and even drawing with some of his older paint.
About 3 years ago my grandmas cousin died from lung cancer as well and last year my best friends dad died of esophageal cancer.

Now I don't want people to feel sorry for me but I needed you guys to know that I know what I'm talking about here.

Because although all of these people died of cancer and it was horrible and hard for their relatives, at least they had lived their life. All these people were over 55 years old (and I'm not saying that at 55 years of age it is ok to die) they had the biggest part of their lives behind them. They got to have children and spend years with the people they loved.

So how much harder must it be loosing a child to cancer? They have all of their live ahead of them. There will be so many things that they will miss out on, if they die of leukemia at the age of 11.
They will never get to experience what loving someone feels like or what being a mum or dad means.

That is the reason why I support Trekstock: I want to help try preventing cancer and make children's lives brighter that already have it.
And maybe one day I will be able to say I helped curing cancer.... I know that might be quite far fetched but I'd like to think of it that way.

Officially launched in 2010 Trekstock supports young people with cancer. They try to help prevent and diagnose cancer with the ultimate goal being to beat it.
In order to achieve that they work with famous musicians all over the world as well as publications in well known magazines and newspapers.
You can find Treckstock on pretty much every social media platform because that is their way of communication with their supporters.
Trekstocks wants to raise awareness of cancer and tries to educate the young using music, art and fashion.

And I genuinely believe that their awesome work should be supported because cancer is a disease that is terminate in most cases and especially for children that is really hard to accept.
So why not try to do something against it using the voice of people that are heard among millions all over the world?
And by writing this post I just became part of the social media circle. Although my blog might be quite small I still believe, that by writing this, I helped in some way.

So go check them out and help out if you can :) And maybe someday it will help someone close to you, who knows.
I would have loved if someone would have been able to save my grandpa :)

And like I mentioned before Trekstock works with famous musicians all over the world so if you donate this month you can even win something. But you will have to find that out for yourselves :)

Throwback Thursday - Dancing

Hello everyone :)

How are you all? I hope everyone is well and has had a good week!

Today is a bit embarrassing for me since what we are going to look back on is :D We'll at least back then it was.
I have no idea why I started and how I thought it was cool but I did belly dancing for about 2 years starting when I was 12.

We had a quite famous belly dancer living in the village I grew up in and I thought she was so cool and I had to try it as well which lead to me and my best friend signing up for lessons.

I actually have a Dvd from one of our performances but I can not find it anywhere. I have been looking for it all over the place but I guess it most have gotten lost during the process of moving.
However I have this which is equally as good :)

For all of you that don't know what we are dressed as:

There was a TV show called 'I dream of Jeannie' and apparently it was a good idea to dance to the theme song and dress like she did for our performance.

And I can tell you belly dancing as a totally useless skill because the only thing it does is look ridiculous. At least when I try doing it :D

What weird things did you do when you were younger? I would love to know!
And if I ever manage do find that Dvd I will not keep it from the lovely people of the internet, promise :)

Gossip Girl Style - Nate Archibald

Hi everyone

Glad it is Wednesday and I have something to say again :)
It is Nate's turn today.
I really like the way he is dressed because he doesn't always wear really dressy things like Chuck does. Sometime Nate just likes to go casual with a pair of jeans, a t-shirt and some nice shoes which makes his style more like Serenas. His style is for everyone to wear and although he does love a good suit I feel like he only really wears them on special occasions.

Nate's clothes always looked very well put together. It is a very classic modest look and very grown up from the beginning. Nate never looked like he was experimenting with his clothes and managed to seem sophisticated just with the way he dressed.

His outfits always had clear lines and he never wore bright colors. Most of the things he wore were tone on tone and nothing ever seems out of place. Everything always fitted perfectly together and he managed to establish himself as a fashion example who looked very comfortable in everything he wore.

I especially loved all the great coats he got to wear. They seemed to be his signature thing.

In his outfits patterns were never mixed together seeing that he hardly wore any but he does like his tartan pattern shirts :)

And just because we haven't admired him in a suit yet :

Family Weekend

Hello everyone :)

I hope all of your weekends were as great as mine was. On Friday my family came to Augsburg for the weekend.
After 2 hours of getting stuck in traffic my mum, grandma, sister and godmother finally made it and we went out for an amazing dinner at a very cute restaurant (might blog about that on Friday).
The reason the came to visit was my grandmas Christmas gift.
We have a very famous author over here that wrote stories about the Wild West with his two heroes named Winnetou and Old Shatterhand. Winnetou being the Apache chief and Old Shatterhand his blood brother.
The author is called Karl May and his books are amazing so if you haven't read them I would advise you to do so :D And since these books are pretty big over here in Germany people have turned them into plays that they perform open air in 2 places here. We had been to the ones in Bad Segeberg when my sister and me were little but they are just really far away. And since my grandma is almost 80 years old now we didn't want to put her through an 8 hour drive to get there.
So as we found out that they had the exact same thing in Dasing, which is about a 20 minute drive away from where I live, we just had to give that to her as a Christmas present. Because she loves those shows so much and has always wanted to see another.

Now as I said play most of you probably thought about a theater and a stage, but that is not at all what it is.
They have horses, big fight scenes and people being set on fire. Oh and loads of explosions and stuff.

We arrived at the Western City an hour before the show started and had a little walk around.

It all looks really authentic and all the people in the stores and behind the bar in the saloon wore costumes which was really cool. I know you kinda have to be into those sort of things.
They even had a little museum about the creation of the Western City.

Fred Rai the founder of the Western City in Dasing

As the show was about to begin we made our way to the stand. The set up was a lot smaller then the one in Bad Segeberg but nonetheless very imposing.

It looked especially cool after the sun began to set and they started working that into the show.

I would have loved to get some actually picture of the performance but the horses were just to fast and the actors were moving around all the time so it was close to impossible to get a proper picture. But I did manage to find a clip about it on YouTube.

There is a lot of firing guns and explosions involved but no horse seemed to care. It is impressive how well they are trained and how good all the actors are at riding them. Doing stunts with their horses and everything.
We had so much fun watching the show although all the other people probably thought we were a bit insane.

At the beginning we didn't quite understand what was going on and then a dog just started running around the place. My grandma is quite and impatient person so when there was still no sign of Winnetou after the first 20 minutes she just had to speak up. So she said (quite loudly): Where is Winnetou? I came here to see him, what is this? Literally everyone that was sitting within a ranger of 5 meters of us turned around. And it did continue that way :D
When that dog ran across the 'stage' next time we ( my mum, godmother, my sister and I) started cheering because that is just how we are (and we did so every time the dog ran around somewhere because we just had no idea what it was supposed to do and what it meant for the story).

We had a couple of other things that we had to go crazy about, those being. Winnetou and his riding skills and the Comanche chief because we liked his looks :D

Winnetou
Comanche chief ( I should probably add that my mum and godmother liked his looks my sister and me just thought he really looked the part and eh had a cool horse)

We had an amazing time there and probably looked really weird with all the cheering and laughing we did at really inappropriate moments.
If you ever get the chance to go to one of the Karl May shows I would suggest you do so. They are not that expensive and even if you are not a big fan of Karl May are very fun to watch.

And they have cute signs at the toilet doors :)

Food Friday - newsBAR (Munich)

Hello everyone :)

It is friday and you know what that means : it is time to talk about FOOD, yeah!!!
Friday might just become the best day of the week because I get to relive all the great things I have eaten.

So lets get right to it :)
Today I had to get up super early to get the train to Munich where I met up with my cousin for breakfast.
A artisan is coming round her place today but she is not at home, since she has already made plans with friends, before she knew he would be coming. So I offered to come by and make sure everything gets done, because I have nothing else to do, being on my semester break and all.
We decided that it would be good to meet up a little beforehand and just catch up during breakfast.

We had planned to go to a place we had been before because according to her they did a lot of different breakfasty things. Sadly when we got there they were not open yet :) Yes that is what happens to me and my cousin most of the time, we share the same kind of luck with situations like that.
But just around the corner was another little restaurant that looked really cute so we decided to give it a try. And I mean what restaurant that does breakfast is not open at 9.30 am?
To be fair I wouldn't normally go to breakfast around that time of the day so I actually don't know when restaurants open :D

Long story short we ended up at a restaurant/bar thing called newsBAR.

It is situated on the streets corner of Amalienstraße and Schellingstraße, pretty close to the university . Both streets are not that busy so sitting outside was quite nice and at the beginning we even managed not to sit in full sunlight. Didn't last very long though and pretty soon we were sizzling in the sun like sausages in a pan.
newsBAR has a very modern decoration and looks very welcoming with it's orange walls and the warm lighting. I also really like the chairs they had they looked a bit rustic.

As we both hadn't eaten yet and were quite hungry, we probably got a little to much food, looking back at it :)
And even now (almost 4 hours later) I still feel sleepy cause I'm so full haha. Mhm it might also be due to the fact that I only slept 3 hours last night. I'll blame it on being full though :D

On our way there we fantasized about our healthy breakfast with fruit, yoghurt and muesli but as soon as we got the menu, all those great plans were tossed overboard.

My cousin ended up ordering a fruit salad and some pancakes with honey and cinnamon. I got some fruit salad as well, but mine came with yoghurt and roasted nuts, I then also ordered some pancakes with forest fruits.

After we had ordered that, we made the mistake to go through the whole menu just to see if New Bar would be worth coming back to, maybe for lunch next time.
So as we are doing that we come across the dessert section and as you know by now I love dessert and any chance I can have some I will. It's out of question that we had to order the french chocolate cake with a melting heart.

don't exactly know why but she had to get her head in there :D

Yes the amount of food we had did not match our hunger :D We still ate all of it though because it was just that good.

At New Bar the waiters really take the time to help you out. We did have some questions which they were more then happy to answer. I felt like we were taken care of very well and they do work very quick and efficiently.

So if you are looking for a cute little place to go to for breakfast, in Munich, I can highly recommend New Bar.
They did look a little confused though when my cousin started to get artistic with her coffee.

that's what her coffee looked like when we got it

And this is what she decided to do with it:
see what she did there? :D
